(NEWSER– The sadistic killer who struck London in 1888, killing five prostitutes over a 10-week span may have been ... a woman? A new book (titled the says-it-all Jack the Ripper: The Hand of a Woman) puts forth a new theory: That Jack the Ripper was indeed a female, specifically one named Lizzie Williams, wife of royal physician Sir John Williams. Author John Morris tells the Birmingham Mail that "numerous clues scattered throughout the crimes, taken individually, may mean little, but when grouped together a strong case for a woman murderer begins to emerge."
What are these clues? For one, Lizzie was unable to bear children, which makes the fact that three of the prostitutes' wombs were removed suspect. Morris believes a crazed Lizzie Williams decided to take revenge on those who could have children, and notes that she suffered a breakdown after the murders. Supporting Morris' case: The women weren't sexually assaulted, and bits of a woman's cape, skirt, and hat were recovered from the fireplace of the final woman to die, Mary Jane Kelly. Except Kelly had never been seen wearing the items—and she was reportedly having an affair with Sir John Williams, who was himself considered a prime suspect. Lizzie Williams died in 1912, having never been interviewed about the murders.

What do you think?

  1. I don´t think that this theory was true. First I think It´s not usually that the women kill with violence, the statistics said the women kill usually with poison.
Second I think that the killer could keep this object how a memory of this murders, and probably He don´t attack sexually them because it was not his "modus operandi".
I think it is a mistery how the killing of Kennedy it more difficulf to obtain the true of this murders, more years ago I read a famous comic that investigate this murder with a lot of documents and testimonies and it defend
the theory of the doctor of the queen.

I would never imagine that Jack the Ripper, one of the most famous killers in the world, could be a woman. I think this new theory has clues which are very interesting if we put them together. For instance, like the killer didn’t rape the victims or removed their wombs. Reading this article, we see how the insane woman was betrayed by her husband and how she could have taken a huge revenge for that. In spite of these facts, I believe it won’t be the last theory about this assassin. Maybe it will be a mystery for ever.

I considered this new book a fiction book. I have some reasons for it. First of all, are all the evidences explained in the book real? If they are real evidences it´s hard for me to explain how Scotland Yard couldn´t get the same theory as the author of the book, John Morris. Even when Scotland Yard was the most important Police Department of the world at that moment. If the evidences are not real, I have to congratulate John Morris for this story. Crimes of passion are one of the most used motives for mystery stories. Mr. Morris has invented a good story with real-like evidences based on the real story of Jack the Ripper. But one question comes to me. If the reason to kill is that Lizzie Williams couldn´t have babies, why she only killed prostitutes? I understand the last murder because the prostitute was the lover of his husband but not the other women. I think this is a weak point of the story.

  4. At this stage of history,it wouldn't be easy for woman to commit this kind of crime without, for example, coworkers. Also,i don't really think that from so small clues we could figured out so big theory.Sir John Williams,Lizzie's husband, seems that he understood enough psychology to discover such a mental's problem on his wife personality.

In my opinion,Jack the Ripper had to be a man.
