Elena: We normally use the passive voice when the action is more important than the subject. Also when we don’t know who did the action and when the subject comes from the situation. We can use it when a general group of people are who do the action too.
For instance: The dance was painted by Henry Matisse in 1909.
We turn the active voice into the passive voice by switching the object with the subject in the sentence. We want to emphasize the action not the actor. An example: The book was written in 1927. David
